"There's no money in poetry, but then there's no poetry in money either." -- Robert Graves. This is sort of an online portfolio occasionally featuring a few samples of both my work and that of others. It also contains articles gleaned from the poetry presses. Have fun with it and comment frequently! Also please please let me know if you are seeing No Money In Poetry in a readable format on your device.

Family Matters/Other Poems/
Recent Release From Round Barn Press
(cover illustration by Jim Spitzer)
The words of a dead man
Are modified in the guts of the living.
-W.H Auden “In Memory of W.B. Yeats”
Eternal Gardens
Had my father written me poems,
Nasturtiums would have sprouted from my navel,
Dahlias from my rectum, and, of course, he did not,
But my children and their children
May walk in all my colors—
So many gorgeous beckoning gardens!
The most moving part of your reading was from Family Matters; I'm really enjoying the poems on the page, too. They're so honest and heartfelt without being sentimental.

2 Unrelated Coletti Poems
Kiki Smith Takes On Politics
If the sculptor or print maker
recreating the body perfectly
as pain, as pain the body is,
could apply the same chisel
to any politician’s cardiovascular
digestive and nervous systems,
she would attempt to capture only
that deep clenched grimace under
lying all such unrelenting
hyper extended artifice.
Center of the Universe
In an expansive universe similar to our own,
eyes and tongues staring speaking,
distant little planets move about
you their center star
certain all is for you,
all critiques directed towards you,
“too hot” “not enough”
Whether you shine or hide,
smaller planets hold
little sway over the sun,
perhaps a bit of a tug on a ray here or there
a deflection, an errant beam set straight.
You are all about light
but dim noticeably
when you strain to imagine
what some tiny unnoticed planet
might soundlessly
extract from you today.
And please don't forget
2008 Marin Poetry Festival - May 14-18 - including May 18th reading by Robert Bly, Eavan Boland, and Jane Hirshfield at Dominican College in San Rafael.

Since "Poetry Venue" is a collection of your work and other works you might gather or publish, how about "Coletti Collects" or "Coletti Connects"?
Jim
Ed:
Really do love "Eternal Gardens" ...
as such how about
Eternal Garden - the Poetry of Ed Coletti
as a title.
Don
Dear Don,
I do appreciate your compliment. A problem with "the poetry of ed coletti" is that it's not always about me. But I do like the "Eternal Garden" idea as in "Ed Coletti's Eternal Garden." Perhaps, and I'll ponder.
Thank you,
Ed
Ed - For some reason, I can't get this posted on your site.
Eddie's Medleys, Musings, Meditations
A big cumbersome but I like the alliteration.
How about Ed's Place. Who needs edgy? I'm looking for inviting. Lin Marie deVincent
Even though I don't comment on it, I love reading your venue. I, too, find the word "blog" off-putting. I'm not at that keen on venue, either: maybe play with your name a little. Coletti's Collection or something along those sounds.
try coletti's corner---or collection---or coletti's closet---JIM
I like your "unrelated" poems, though I have no idea to what they are unrelated
Bill
How much edgier than Ed Coletti's Poetry Venue can you get? I thought of:
Ed Coletti's RSVP (acronym for read/share venue of poetry) or even shorter:
RSVP/EC (same as above with the possible French version of: repondez-s'il vous plait/ici), but the French pun might be lost on your fans; besides, the connection with poetry and/or Ed Coletti not being immediately obvious I am probably not improving on your catchy title or as the French would say, "Je cherche midi a quatorze heures."
